Historical asthma deaths between 1950 and 2016 (AIHW)
This presents data for asthma (and other conditions) from 1907. You can use the interactive table on the webpage or download an excel document. This provides a total deaths and death rate, broken down by age and gender (not state/territory) and comparison (e.g. OECD).
Note that new versions of the ICD (disease classification) where used respectively in 1958, 1968, 1979, and 1997 which may account for some changes in number of deaths (e.g. large number from 1949 to 1950).
